Join us for an easy bird walk of the wooded camping area, listen to the birds, and maybe even learn a few new things.

Join us for an easy bird walk of the wooded camping area, listen to the birds, and maybe even learn a few new things.

Please Double check at Park Headquarters for starting location for this bird walk.

Listen and watch for birds, while our bird hosts help you spot the birds, and learn to recognize their behavior and calls. 

When: 8:30 a.m.

Where:  Parking lot next to campsite 157 or at the bird sanctuary.  

Parking:  Park at Turk's Cap Trail Parking Lots, or the Tent Camping Parking Area.

What are we doing:  Bird watching and walking.

Things to bring:  Binoculars, water, sun screen, bug spray, shoes suitable for walking, a camera, and dress in weather appropriate clothing. 

Walks may be canceled or postponed in event of rain.


There is no fee for attending this program although park entrance  is required.  Entrance fees are $5 per person over the age of 13, children 12 and under are free, or free with a current Texas State Park Pass.  Appropriate for all ages and all skills of birders.  We do have a few pairs of binoculars available for use during the program, but it is best to bring your own.
