Description:

In our Saturday education programs, children will discover what it means to be a marine scientist. These are hands-on programs so be prepared to have fun and learn about the ocean! Parents must accompany children and participation is limited to the first 24 visitors, so please register in advance to secure your seat.

When: Saturdays in June and July from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

June 17    Survival of the Fishiest - Fish have personalities just like you and me! Join graduate student Alexis Khursigara to learn about her research! (Ages 6+)

June 24    "Home for a Hermit Crab" - Did you know that hermit crabs do not make the shell on their back? Come learn about the shell creator, shell wearer, and other hermit crab adaptations. (Ages 3-5)

July 1    Sharks, Skates, and Rays - Did you know that all sharks are fish but not all fish are sharks? Come learn about the cartilaginous fishes in our estuary. (Ages 6+)

July 8    Glowing Critters of the Ocean - Some of the smallest creatures in the ocean are the most powerful and in some cases “bright”! This hands on program is a must “see”! (Ages 3-5)

July 15    "Coral Reefs" - Did you know that coral is an animal and that there is a coral reef in the Gulf of Mexico? Come learn about the amazing habitat formed by these peculiar creatures and the current dangers corals face. (Ages 6+)

July 22    No program 

July 29    "Over In The Ocean, In a Coral Reef" - Did you know that coral is an animal and that there is a coral reef in the Gulf of Mexico? In this program we will read, learn, and be inspired by these diverse ecosystems! (Ages 3-5)
