Join a park ranger for a few fishing basics. Bring your own bait!

Want to try fishing, but are not sure where to start?  Come to Fishing with a ranger!  Learn a few fishing basics, like baiting a hook, casting a line, and if you are lucky reeling in a fish!  Bring your own bait and we will help you hook it! (Shrimp is a popular choice and can be found at most local bait stands.)  The park will provide a limited number of fishing poles for use during the program, poles can also be checked out from Park Headquarters first-come, first-serve. 

When: 8:30 a.m.

Where:  Fishing Pier Parking Lot

What are we doing:  Learning fishing basics.

Things to bring:  Bait, water, sunscreen, fishing pole, and dress in weather appropriate clothing. 

Events may be canceled pending weather, or if no participants are present.

There is no fee for attending this program although park entrance  is required.  Entrance fees are $5 per person over the age of 13, children 12 and under are free, or free with a current Texas State Park Pass.
