A 1,000 year old oak tree is waiting for you at Goose Island State Park.

Goose Island State Park has many natural wonders for you to discover.  The Big Tree however is one of a kind at the park.  It stands strong and silent, ready to greet anyone that visits it.  For this program meet a park ranger at the Big Tree to learn a small part of the tree’s history, and then have your questions answered.

 

When:  Friday at 3:00 PM 

Where to meet:  At the Big Tree.  There is a parking area located in front of the tree, a sidewalk that circles up to the tree, and several benches where you sit.  

Things to bring:  Binoculars, water, sun screen, shoes suitable for walking, a camera, and wear weather appropriate clothing. There will be a few pairs of binoculars available for loan, but it is best to bring your own.

Program may be canceled or postponed in event of rain.

 There is no fee for attending this program, although park entrance is required to enter the park.  Entrance fees can be paid at Park Headquarters and are $5 per person over the age of 13, children 12 and under are free, or free with a current Texas State Park Pass.  Appropriate for all ages.  If no one is present by 3:15 the program may be canceled.
